Speaking "Business"
Around the World
Who do you call if you need an interpreter for
a business meeting in Zurich? Or want your business
card translated for a trip to Beijing?
Customers near its offices in St. Louis and far
beyond call on AAA Translation, which has provided
translation and interpretation services for organizations
as diverse as Build-a-Bear and The Vatican.
Founded in 1992 by German-born Susanne Evens,
who herself speaks five languages, AAA offers
clients the expertise of more than 100 freelance
linguists with native fluency in everything from
Arabic to Zulu.
Challenge: Tracking Email Opens and Forwards
Until two years ago, Susanne kept in touch with
clients through an email newsletter sent through
her personal email account. That worked, but offered
no way to determine who was opening and reading
her emails, or whether people were forwarding
them to others. So when Susanne found Constant
Contact, she took advantage of the free 60-day
trial offer, and immediately signed on.
Solution: Constant Contact's
Measurable Results and Professional Look
Susanne says she uses Constant Contact to "kick
my marketing campaigns up a notch." She notes
which subscribers consistently open her monthly
email newsletter, and then follows up with marketing
campaigns specifically targeted to those readers.
Says Susanne, "I love the way you can upload
photos and create your own professional-looking
design so easily—I'm always telling people
how easy Constant Contact is to use."
"I also love how much cheaper it is than
doing mailers, and how much more effective. Now
I'm starting to notice that my customers are using
Constant Contact themselves!"
Susanne sends emails on topics as varied as her
clients.
In December, she wrote one on how holidays are
celebrated around the world. When the Olympics
were in Italy, she wrote an article about Italy.
She's also written about marketing to the Hispanic
community, and why it's critical for companies
to offer their websites in more than one language.
Current challenges in her field, says Susanne,
include the fact that many large national companies
are still not ready to expand their operations
beyond the United States.
Susanne Evens uses her email newsletter to educate
clients about that trend, and how and why entering
foreign marketplaces could help them retain market
share. Her helpful emails keep her in front of
her customers and potential customers so they
will think of her when they need translation services.
Susanne, a committed networker, depends heavily
on personal contacts to build her business, asking
everyone she meets at networking events as well
as anyone who sends an inquiry if they want to
subscribe to the AAA email newsletter.
From 86 to 500 subscribers
Susanne says Constant Contact helps her reinforce
AAA Translation's brand with every email she sends
by providing clients and prospective clients with
the information they need to make educated decisions
about international business.
The effort has paid off. AAA Translation had
86 people on its original list. Today they have
a list of over 500.
