Interpretation
There are two types of interpretation: simultaneous and consecutive. Which type is best for your needs?
Simultaneous interpretation requires interpreters to listen and speak at the same time. In simultaneous interpretation, the interpreter begins to convey a sentence being spoken while the speaker is still talking. Ideally, simultaneous interpreters should be so familiar with a subject that they are able to anticipate the end of the speaker’s sentence. This type of interpretation is required at international conferences and is sometimes used in the courts.
In consecutive interpretation, the interpreter speaks after the language speaker has finished speaking. The speech is divided into segments, when the speaker finishes speaking; the interpreter then interprets the entire message in the target language. The consecutive interpreter should have an outstanding knowledge in that specific domain, and must be capable of conveying the nuances of the dialogue quickly and accurately.
